Welcome to our place

Welcome to our mostly genealogy blog place. My wife and I have ancestors in this country going back to the 16 and 1700’s. Mine are in NY as Dutch settlers (Van Cott) in the early 1600’s and then in Massachusetts in the mid-1600’s (Dwinell/Dunnell/Duenell). My wife’s family settled in what is now West Virginia, in the 1740’s (Vincent), Maryland as an indentured servant around 1740 (Isgrig), Tennessee around 1830 (Scarborough). The Vincent and Dwinell families fought in the Revolutionary War, all of these families fought in many of the wars of the nation to maintain its freedom.

They migrated across the country all meeting up in New York, and Texas. It has been an interesting journey researching and finding (and not finding) those who we sought to identify. Also fun finding new relatives, cousins that we never knew were out there.

From time to time I might write something about other subjects but I hope to keep this blog to be about genealogy and the fun, sometimes frustration, but always fun researching to find more information about our ancestors.

If you are interested in genealogy, I hope you will join the discussion as we move along.
